Tunbridge Wells Literary Festival landed this weekend and Warriors gathered a group of bookworms keen to attend. Cathy Newman's talk about her new book The Ladder: Life Lessons from Women Who Scaled the Heights & Dodged the Snakes, seemed the obvious choice.

The talk started with an introduction to Cathy's career, from her early days at the Financial Times to her current role as Channel 4 News’ main presenter. Newman's career trajectory is a testament to breaking barriers, she has shattered stereotypes and paved the way for others. Cathy also hosts a Times Radio slot The Ladder, the foundation of her new book.

"The Ladder: Life Lessons from Women Who Scaled the Heights & Dodged the Snakes" is not just a book; it's a journey through the trials and triumphs of remarkable women. Through the lens of climbing the metaphorical ladder of success, each page unveils insights, inspirations, and invaluable lessons from women who've weathered storms and scaled summits.

Cathy intricately weaves narratives of resilience, determination, and empowerment, painting vivid portraits of women who refused to be constrained by societal norms or corporate ceilings. From navigating professional challenges to overcoming personal obstacles, their stories resonate with authenticity and raw honesty.
What sets "The Ladder" apart is its ability to transcend mere advice-giving and delve into the depths of human experience. It's not just about reaching the top; it's about the bruises, the setbacks, and the sheer audacity to keep climbing despite the odds. The book celebrates the victories and struggles, acknowledging that every stumble is a stepping stone to greatness.

The talk was engaging, informative, entertaining and empowering. One of my favourite takeaways was the importance of having a female support network to turn to and being scrupulous about supporting other women. Surrounded by my fellow Warriors I felt very fortunate indeed 🩷
